Zinnat Tablet (Cefuroxime) Dosage (Kitni leni hai)
Taking the correct dose of Zinnat Tablet (Cefuroxime axetil) and always taking it with food are essential for treatment success. The dose is prescribed by the doctor according to infection type and severity.
CRITICAL: Khane ke Sath Lena Zaroori Hai
Cefuroxime axetil is an oral prodrug — taking it with food significantly improves absorption (bioavailability). On an empty stomach, the drug level may stay below the therapeutic range — the infection does not resolve. This is a unique requirement of this antibiotic that is different from most antibiotics.
Adult Dose (Baalgon ke liye)
- Usual dose: As prescribed — generally 250mg or 500mg twice daily (BD)
- Frequency: Twice daily — with morning and evening meals
- Condition-specific: Sinusitis, bronchitis — 250mg BD; Pneumonia, severe infections — 500mg BD; UTI — 125mg or 250mg BD; Doctor confirms
- Max dose: Do not exceed prescribed limit
Starting Dose: As prescribed by your doctor
Usual Dose: 250mg or 500mg twice daily (condition-dependent)
Max Daily Dose: As prescribed — do not self-exceed
Child Dose (Bachon ke liye)
Weight-based dose — confirm with your doctor or paediatrician.
IMPORTANT: Tablet and suspension (liquid) doses are DIFFERENT — NOT bioequivalent. The suspension dose for children is different from the tablet. The doctor prescribes specifically.
How to Take (Kaise lena hai)
- ALWAYS TAKE WITH FOOD — essential for absorption
- Twice daily
- Swallow the whole tablet with water — crushing it makes the taste very bitter
- Do not take at the same time as antacids — absorption is reduced
- Same time every day — consistency is essential
Best Time to Take (Kab lena chahiye)
- Morning breakfast or meal + evening meal — as per the doctor's prescribed schedule
- Every dose must always be taken with food
With Food or Empty Stomach
Zinnat must ALWAYS be taken with food. On an empty stomach, absorption is significantly reduced — treatment may be less effective. This is different from most antibiotics.
Missed Dose (Dose chhoot jaye to kya karein)
Take it as soon as you remember — with food. If the next dose is soon, skip it. Never take a double dose. Regular timing in an antibiotic course is essential for consistent bacterial killing.
Course Completion (Poora Course Zaroor Karein)
Complete the full course even when feeling better — an incomplete course:
- Bacteria may survive (resistant strains)
- Reinfection or relapse can occur
- Antibiotic resistance increases in the community
Overdose (Zyada Dose)
Severe GI symptoms, neurological effects (rare seizures), nephrotoxicity. Contact emergency services IMMEDIATELY.
