Tobramycin Eye Drops (Tobrex) Side Effects (Nuksanat)
Tobramycin Eye Drops are generally well-tolerated when used with correct technique and for the prescribed course.
Common Side Effects (Aam Nuksanat)
- Mild stinging or burning on instillation
- Mild conjunctival redness (transient)
- Eye discomfort
- Mild eyelid itching
These side effects are usually mild and transient — they resolve within a few seconds or minutes after instillation. If they persist, inform your doctor.
Serious Side Effects (Sanjeedah Nuksanat)
- Allergic / hypersensitivity reaction — worsening redness, severe eyelid swelling — stop drops immediately and see a doctor
- Corneal toxicity (prolonged overuse) — see a doctor immediately
- Superinfection with prolonged use — see a doctor immediately
When to See a Doctor (Kab Doctor Se Milna Zaroori Hai)
- Redness worsens or does not improve 48–72 hours after starting treatment
- Severe eyelid swelling
- Vision change or loss
- Worsening eye pain — corneal ulcer
- Symptoms improve then return
Warnings and Precautions (Ihtiyat)
- Don't use if allergic to tobramycin or any aminoglycoside
- Do not leave the course incomplete — resistance can develop
- Discard after treatment — reuse carries contamination risk
- Avoid contact lenses during treatment
