For most patients without other medications, Risek (Omeprazole) is cheap and effective. If the patient takes clopidogrel after a heart event, or multiple other medications, switch to Pantop (Pantoprazole). Both should be reviewed every 8 weeks — long-term unmonitored PPI use has known side effects.
