Calcitriol Capsule (Rocaltrol) Dosage (Kitni leni hai)
Calcitriol dose is always based on individual serum calcium and phosphate results. Adjusting the dose yourself without a doctor is dangerous — hypercalcaemia results.
Adult Dose (Baalgon ke liye)
Starting Dose: 0.25 mcg once daily
Usual Dose: 0.25–0.5 mcg once daily — with blood calcium monitoring
Max Daily Dose: Absolutely do not exceed the prescribed limit
- Dose is always adjusted according to blood test results
- Self-adjustment strictly forbidden
Child Dose (Bachon ke liye)
Calcitriol dose in children is decided by a paediatric nephrologist or endocrinologist — based on weight and age. Calculating the dose yourself is dangerous.

How to Take (Kaise lena hai)
- Swallow the capsule whole — do not break or open it
- Take at the same time every day
- Can be taken with or without food
- Do not take at the same time as calcium-containing antacids
Missed Dose (Dose chhoot jaye to kya karein)
If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If the next dose is soon, skip it. Never take a double dose — an excessive dose can cause hypercalcaemia.
Overdose (Zyada Dose)
Calcitriol overdose causes hypercalcaemia:
- Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, frequent urination, confusion, weakness, arrhythmias
- Action: stop calcitriol immediately, see a doctor or emergency room
- IV fluids and monitoring are provided in hospital
