Coartem Tablet contains Artemether 20mg + Lumefantrine 120mg and belongs to the artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) antimalarial group. Below are all the approved uses of Coartem Tablet in Pakistan.
Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
- Uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria
- Chloroquine-resistant falciparum malaria
- Acute malaria episodes in endemic areas of Pakistan
Who Should Take It (Kin logon ke liye)
- Adults and children with laboratory-confirmed or clinically diagnosed uncomplicated P. falciparum malaria
- Patients in malaria-endemic areas of Pakistan with suspected chloroquine-resistant infection
- Travellers returning from endemic regions with falciparum malaria
When NOT to Use Coartem Tablet (Kab nahi leni chahiye)
- If you are allergic to artemether, lumefantrine, or any ingredient
- During the first trimester of pregnancy
- Patients with cardiac arrhythmias, bradycardia, or congestive heart failure
- Concurrent use with other QT-prolonging medicines
