Haldol Tablet (Haloperidol) Dosage (Kitni leni hai)
Haldol Tablet (Haloperidol) dose is always determined by a psychiatrist or physician — individualized based on condition severity. Never self-adjust the dose.
Available Strengths (Pakistan mein)
0.5mg | 1mg | 2mg | 5mg | 10mg
Adult Dose (Baalgon ke liye)
- Dose: As prescribed — individualized based on condition severity
- Frequency: Once or twice daily — as per psychiatrist's schedule
- Max dose: Do not exceed the recommended limit — high doses carry NMS and QT prolongation risk
- Schizophrenia maintenance: Generally low to moderate dose (1mg–5mg common range, but varies)
Starting Dose: As prescribed by your psychiatrist
Usual Dose: As prescribed — individualized
Max Daily Dose: As prescribed — do not self-exceed
Child Dose (Bachon ke liye)
Specialist supervision is required for paediatric use. Weight-based dose — consult your doctor. Low doses are used in paediatric cases of Tourette syndrome.
How to Take (Kaise lena hai)
- Take the prescribed dose — never self-adjust
- Once or twice daily — as per psychiatrist's schedule
- Better to take with food — reduces GI side effects
- Swallow the whole tablet with water
Best Time to Take (Kab lena chahiye)
- Often at night — benefits from sedation
- Follow doctor's advice — take at the same time every day
- Schedule may be adjusted based on EPS symptoms
With Food or Empty Stomach (Khali pait ya khane ke baad)
Taking with food is preferable — reduces GI discomfort. Taking with antacids may affect absorption — consult your doctor.
Missed Dose (Dose chhoot jaye to kya karein)
Take it as soon as you remember. If the next dose is close, skip the missed dose. Never take a double dose. Missing an antipsychotic dose risks relapse — contact your doctor if multiple doses are missed.
Stopping Haloperidol
Never stop abruptly — reduce the dose gradually under psychiatrist guidance (tapering). Sudden stopping can cause:
- Psychotic relapse
- Withdrawal dyskinesia
- Rebound agitation
The psychiatrist decides between long-term maintenance and tapering.
Overdose (Zyada Dose)
This is serious — severe EPS, hypotension, cardiac arrhythmia (QT prolongation/torsades), NMS. Contact emergency services IMMEDIATELY.
