Neurontin Side Effects (Nuksanat)
Neurontin (Gabapentin) is generally well tolerated when taken at the correct dose. However, like all medicines, it can cause side effects in some patients.
Common Side Effects (Aam Nuksanat)
- Dizziness and drowsiness
- Fatigue and coordination problems (unsteadiness)
- Blurred or double vision
These side effects are usually mild and often improve over time. If they continue or interfere with daily activities, inform your doctor.
Serious Side Effects (Sanjeedah Nuksanat)
- Signs of a severe allergic reaction (facial swelling, severe rash, difficulty breathing) — see a doctor immediately
- New or worsening mood changes, anxiety, or thoughts of self-harm — see a doctor immediately
- Slow, shallow, or difficulty breathing, especially when combined with opioids or sedatives — see a doctor immediately

- Facial, lip, or throat swelling, severe rash, or difficulty breathing
- Any new thoughts of self-harm, unusual agitation, or a significant mood change
- Slow, shallow breathing or extreme drowsiness that is hard to wake from
- A seizure that is different, longer, or more frequent than usual
Warnings and Precautions (Ihtiyat)
- Don't use Neurontin if you are allergic to Gabapentin or any ingredient
- Never stop this medicine suddenly — abrupt discontinuation can trigger withdrawal seizures, even in people without epilepsy. It must always be tapered off gradually under a doctor's guidance.
- Combining Neurontin with opioids, sedatives, or alcohol raises the risk of dangerously slowed breathing
- May cause dizziness and drowsiness — use caution with driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you
