Pradaxa Capsule Uses (Fayde / Kis kaam aata hai)
HIGH RISK MEDICINE: Pradaxa (dabigatran) is an anticoagulant (blood thinner). It carries a serious risk of life-threatening bleeding. Use ONLY under strict medical supervision. Do not start, stop, or change the dose without your doctor's advice.
Pradaxa contains dabigatran etexilate and belongs to the Direct Thrombin Inhibitor (DOAC) group of anticoagulants. Below are all the approved uses of Pradaxa in Pakistan.
Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
- Stroke and systemic embolism prevention in non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF)
- Treatment of acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE)
- Prevention of recurrent DVT and PE
Who Should Take It (Kin logon ke liye)
- Adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) at risk of stroke
- Patients with confirmed acute DVT or PE (after initial anticoagulation therapy)
- Patients who have had DVT/PE and need prevention of recurrence
When NOT to Use Pradaxa (Kab nahi lena chahiye)
- If you are allergic to dabigatran etexilate or any ingredient in Pradaxa
- If you have active serious bleeding (e.g., gastric ulcer, intracranial hemorrhage)
- If you have severe kidney disease (CrCl < 30 mL/min) — contraindicated
- If you have prosthetic heart valves requiring anticoagulation
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
