Risperdal Side Effects (Nuksanat)
Risperdal (Risperidone) is generally well tolerated when taken at the correct dose. However, like all medicines, it can cause side effects in some patients.
Common Side Effects (Aam Nuksanat)
- Drowsiness
- Weight gain
- Dizziness
These side effects are usually mild. If they continue, inform your doctor.
Serious Side Effects (Sanjeedah Nuksanat)
- Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) — fever, muscle rigidity, and confusion; rare but serious, see a doctor immediately
- Tardive dyskinesia — uncontrollable, repetitive body movements; rare but can be serious and sometimes irreversible, see a doctor immediately
- Significant blood sugar changes and elevated prolactin levels — see a doctor immediately if symptoms occur
When to See a Doctor (Kab Doctor Se Milna Zaroori Hai)
- Fever, muscle rigidity, or sudden confusion (possible NMS)
- Uncontrollable, repetitive movements of the face or body (possible tardive dyskinesia)
- Fainting, irregular heartbeat, or severe dizziness
Warnings and Precautions (Ihtiyat)
- Don't use Risperdal if you are allergic to Risperidone or any ingredient
- Not approved for dementia-related psychosis in elderly patients due to increased risk of stroke and death
- Never stop this medicine abruptly without your doctor's guidance
