Sumatriptan (Imigran) contains Sumatriptan succinate and belongs to the Triptan (5-HT1B/1D agonist) drug class. Below are all the approved and common uses of Sumatriptan (Imigran) in Pakistan.
Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
- Acute migraine attacks with or without aura
- Cluster headache (intense one-sided pain attacks occurring in clusters — nasal spray or injection forms preferred but tablet also used)
Who Should Take It (Kin logon ke liye)
- Adults with confirmed migraine diagnosis who have moderate-to-severe attacks
- Patients for whom simple analgesics (paracetamol, ibuprofen) are not adequately controlling migraine attacks
- Patients without cardiovascular contraindications (no CAD, no stroke history, controlled blood pressure)
When NOT to Use Sumatriptan (Kab nahi leni chahiye)
- If you have coronary artery disease, history of heart attack, or angina
- If you have had a stroke or TIA
- If you have uncontrolled hypertension
- If you are allergic to Sumatriptan or any ingredient in the product
- If you are taking MAO inhibitors (contraindicated)
- Children under 18 without specialist guidance
