Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
- Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) — Moderate to Severe: First-choice alternative to steroids, especially in steroid-resistant eczema or where steroids cause skin atrophy
- Facial and Periorbital Eczema: Safe for use around the eyes and on the face — does not cause skin thinning
- Eczema in Skin Folds and Sensitive Areas: Axillary, inguinal, genital areas where long-term steroids are problematic
Who Should Take It (Kin logon ke liye)
- Adults with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis that has not responded to topical corticosteroids
- Patients with eczema on the face, neck, or skin folds where steroid atrophy is a concern
- Children aged 2–15 years (0.03% strength only) under dermatologist supervision
When NOT to Use Protopic (Kab nahi leni chahiye)
- Children under 2 years of age — absolutely contraindicated
- Active skin infection on the area to be treated — treat infection first
- Immunocompromised patients
- Known allergy to tacrolimus or macrolide antibiotics
