Zyprexa Side Effects (Nuksanat)
Zyprexa (Olanzapine) is generally well tolerated when taken at the correct dose under medical supervision. However, like all antipsychotic medicines, it can cause side effects in some patients, including changes that need ongoing monitoring.
Common Side Effects (Aam Nuksanat)
- Drowsiness
- Weight gain
- Increased appetite
These side effects are usually manageable. If they continue or affect daily life, inform your doctor.
Serious Side Effects (Sanjeedah Nuksanat)
- Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (high fever, muscle stiffness, confusion) — see a doctor immediately
- Tardive dyskinesia (uncontrollable, repetitive body movements) — see a doctor immediately
- Significant rise in blood sugar or triglyceride levels — needs regular monitoring by your doctor
When to See a Doctor (Kab Doctor Se Milna Zaroori Hai)
- High fever, muscle stiffness, or sudden confusion
- Uncontrollable or repetitive muscle movements
- Thoughts of self-harm or suicide, or a sudden worsening of mood or behaviour
- Signs of very high blood sugar such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, or extreme fatigue
Warnings and Precautions (Ihtiyat)
- Don't use Zyprexa if you are allergic to Olanzapine or any ingredient
- Use with extra caution in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis, due to an increased risk of stroke and death — do not take without a doctor's advice
