Yasmin Pill Uses (Fayde / Kis kaam aati hai)
Yasmin Tablet contains Drospirenone 3mg + Ethinylestradiol 0.03mg and belongs to the Combined Oral Contraceptive group. All approved and common uses of Yasmin are detailed below.
Primary Use: Contraception (Hamal Rokna)
The most important and primary use of Yasmin pill is pregnancy prevention (contraception). It works through three mechanisms:
1. Ovulation suppression — The combination of estrogen and progestin suppresses FSH/LH hormones so that egg release does not occur 2. Cervical mucus thickening — Sperm cannot pass through the cervix 3. Endometrial changes — The uterine lining does not remain receptive to implantation
When taken correctly, effectiveness is >99%.
PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder)
Yasmin is approved by the US FDA for PMDD. PMDD is a severe hormonal condition in which, before periods:
- Severe mood swings, depression or anxiety
- Irritability and anger episodes
- Physical symptoms: bloating, breast pain, headache
Drospirenone's anti-mineralocorticoid property also reduces bloating and water retention.
Off-Label Uses

- Dysmenorrhea (painful periods): period pain may be reduced through cycle regulation
- Hirsutism: reduction in excess facial/body hair is possible through the anti-androgenic effect
