Fluticasone Nasal Spray Dosage
Fluticasone Nasal Spray (Flixonase) requires the correct dose and technique for effective treatment. Always follow your doctor's prescription.
Adult Dose
- 2 sprays (100mcg) per nostril once daily
- Reduce to 1 spray per nostril once symptoms are controlled
- Regular daily use is necessary — the effect appears within 1–2 weeks
- If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered — never take a double dose
Starting Dose: 2 sprays per nostril once daily
Usual Dose: 2 sprays per nostril once daily; reduce to 1 spray when controlled
Max Daily Dose: Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor
Child Dose
Children 4 years and above: 1 spray per nostril once daily — as prescribed by a doctor
The dose for children is always determined by a doctor — do not give to children under 4 years.
Correct Technique
1. Shake the bottle thoroughly 2. Close one nostril 3. Insert the nozzle into the other nostril — angle it AWAY from the nasal septum 4. While spraying, breathe in slowly through the nose 5. Keep the spray away from the eyes 6. Repeat for the other nostril
Never direct the spray towards the nasal septum — septum perforation may occur.
Best Time to Use
- Regular use once in the morning
- At the same time daily — maintain a routine
With Food or Empty Stomach
- Nasal spray has no relation to food — use it in the morning.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If the next dose is close, skip the missed dose. Never take a double dose.
Overdose
Prolonged high-dose use may cause adrenal suppression. If too much is used, see a doctor.
