N-Acetylcysteine Sachet Uses (Fayde / Kis kaam aati hai)
N-Acetylcysteine Sachet contains N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) and belongs to the Mucolytic group. Below are all the approved and common uses of NAC Sachet (Mucolator/ACC) in Pakistan.
Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
- Productive cough with thick mucus
- COPD and Chronic Bronchitis mucus clearance
- Cystic Fibrosis and Bronchiectasis (adjunct)
Secondary Uses
- Paracetamol poisoning antidote (IV/oral high-dose — hospital Rx only)
- Contrast-induced nephropathy prevention (hospital Rx)
Who Should Take It (Kin logon ke liye)
- Adults and children with productive cough (mucus)
- COPD or chronic bronchitis patients
- Cystic fibrosis or bronchiectasis patients (adjunct therapy)
- Note: For paracetamol poisoning, go to hospital immediately — do not self-treat at home with sachet
When NOT to Use NAC (Kab nahi leni chahiye)
- If allergic to N-acetylcysteine or any ingredient
- Inhaled NAC — bronchospasm risk in asthma; sachet form is safer but confirm with a doctor
- For paracetamol overdose, IV treatment is a hospital emergency — OTC sachet is not a replacement
