Nifedipine (Adalat) Uses (Fayde / Kis kaam aati hai)
Nifedipine (Adalat) contains Nifedipine and belongs to the Calcium Channel Blocker class. It is manufactured by Bayer Pakistan and is commonly prescribed in Pakistan for cardiovascular conditions.
Mechanism of Action (Yeh kaam kaise karti hai)
Nifedipine blocks calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle. This relaxes blood vessels (vasodilation), lowers blood pressure, and improves blood flow to the heart.
Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
1. Hypertension (High Blood Pressure / BP)
Nifedipine is a DRAP-approved medicine for hypertension. It relaxes blood vessels to lower BP. Do not stop or start without the doctor's instructions.
2. Angina Pectoris (Dil ka Dard / Chest Pain)
In angina, blood flow to the heart is reduced. Nifedipine relaxes coronary arteries to improve blood flow and relieve chest pain.
3. Raynaud's Phenomenon
In this condition, blood vessels in the fingers and toes constrict due to cold or stress. Nifedipine relaxes them to restore blood flow.
4. Preterm Labour (Sirf Medical Supervision Mein)
Doctors sometimes prescribe nifedipine short-term to stop preterm labour. It is used only in a hospital setting — self-use is strictly prohibited.
