Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
- Epilepsy — tonic-clonic seizures (grand mal — dora / fits)
- Partial seizures (simple partial, complex partial, secondarily generalized)
- Status epilepticus (IV — hospital emergency only)

- Patients with neurologist-diagnosed epilepsy
- Under a doctor's strict supervision and with serum level monitoring
- Do not self-decide — neurologist evaluation is essential
When NOT to Use (Kab nahi lena chahiye)
- Phenytoin se known allergy
- Pregnancy — Pregnancy Category D (teratogenic) — prefer alternatives
- Porphyria

CRITICAL WARNINGS (Zaroori Khabbardari)
Narrow Therapeutic Index: Therapeutic range is only 10–20 mg/L — slightly above causes toxicity, below causes ineffectiveness.
Zero-Order Kinetics: A small dose change can disproportionately raise blood levels — NEVER adjust the dose yourself.
DO NOT STOP ABRUPTLY: Sudden discontinuation can trigger seizures — always taper.
