Plavix Side Effects (Nuksanat)
Plavix (Clopidogrel) is generally well tolerated when taken at the correct dose. However, like all medicines, it can cause side effects in some patients, and because it is an antiplatelet medicine, bleeding-related effects need special attention.
Common Side Effects (Aam Nuksanat)
- Easy bruising
- Minor nosebleeds
- Upset stomach
These side effects are usually mild. If they continue, inform your doctor.
Serious Side Effects (Sanjeedah Nuksanat)
- Unusual or severe bleeding — see a doctor immediately
- Black or bloody stools — see a doctor immediately
- Signs of stroke or heart attack (chest pain, sudden weakness, slurred speech, fainting) — see a doctor immediately
When to See a Doctor (Kab Doctor Se Milna Zaroori Hai)
- Unusual, severe, or prolonged bleeding, or bruising that appears without cause
- Black, tarry, or bloody stools, or blood in vomit or urine
- Chest pain, sudden weakness, slurred speech, or fainting — this can signal a heart attack or stroke, which is a special risk if Plavix has been stopped abruptly after a stent
Warnings and Precautions (Ihtiyat)
- Don't use Plavix if you are allergic to Clopidogrel or any ingredient
- Never stop taking Plavix suddenly without your cardiologist's guidance, especially if you have a coronary stent — abrupt discontinuation can lead to stent thrombosis and a life-threatening heart attack
- Inform any doctor or dentist that you are taking Plavix before any surgery or procedure, as it affects bleeding risk
