Symbicort Inhaler Side Effects (Nuksanat)
Symbicort Inhaler (Budesonide + Formoterol) is generally safe and effective when used with correct Turbuhaler technique. However, like all medicines, it can cause side effects in some patients.
Common Side Effects (Aam Nuksanat)
- Oral candidiasis / thrush — Prevention: rinse mouth after every use
- Hoarseness / dysphonia
- Tremor (from LABA formoterol)
- Palpitations
- Headache
These side effects are usually mild. If they continue, inform your doctor.
Serious Side Effects (Sanjeedah Nuksanat)
- Paradoxical bronchospasm — breathing becomes more difficult after inhalation — see a doctor immediately / emergency
- Severe tachycardia / arrhythmia — see a doctor immediately
- Systemic ICS effects (adrenal suppression, osteoporosis, cataracts — long-term high dose) — doctor monitoring required
- Severe hypersensitivity / anaphylaxis — see a doctor immediately
When to See a Doctor (Kab Doctor Se Milna Zaroori Hai)
- Paradoxical bronchospasm — breathing becomes more difficult after inhaling
- Severe or irregular heartbeat
- Oral pain or white patches that do not resolve with rinsing
- Severe fatigue, dizziness (adrenal suppression signs — long-term use)
- Chest pain or fainting
Warnings and Precautions (Ihtiyat)
- Always rinse your mouth after every use
- LABA monotherapy (formoterol without ICS) is FORBIDDEN in asthma — this combination is safe
- Do not stop ICS suddenly — steroid withdrawal risk
