Trajenta (Linagliptin) Side Effects (Nuksanat)
Trajenta (Linagliptin) is generally well-tolerated at the approved 5mg dose. However, like all medicines, it can cause side effects in some patients.
Common Side Effects (Aam Nuksanat)
- Nasopharyngitis (nasal congestion, runny nose)
- Upper respiratory tract infection
- Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) — especially when combined with sulfonylurea or insulin
These side effects are usually mild. If they continue, inform your doctor.
Serious Side Effects (Sanjeedah Nuksanat)
- Acute pancreatitis (severe stomach pain — rare) — see a doctor immediately
- Bullous pemphigoid (skin blistering — DPP-4 class effect, rare) — see a doctor immediately
- Severe joint pain / arthralgia — see a doctor immediately
- Heart failure exacerbation — monitor regularly
- Anaphylaxis / severe allergic reaction — emergency
When to See a Doctor (Kab Doctor Se Milna Zaroori Hai)
- Severe abdominal pain — sign of pancreatitis — emergency
- Skin blisters or peeling rash — stop the medicine and see a doctor immediately
- Loss of consciousness from low blood sugar — emergency (glucagon needed)
- Swelling of face, lips, tongue, throat — allergic reaction — emergency
- New or worsening shortness of breath
Warnings and Precautions (Ihtiyat)
- Don't use Trajenta if you are allergic to Linagliptin or any ingredient
- Avoid Rifampicin combination — drastically reduces Linagliptin levels
- Monitor blood sugar more frequently when adding SU or insulin
