Magnesium Tablet Side Effects (Nuksanat)
Magnesium Tablet (Magnesium as Magnesium Oxide / Magnesium Sulphate) is generally safe when taken at the correct dose. However, like all supplements, it can cause side effects in some patients.
Common Side Effects (Aam Nuksanat)
- Diarrhoea (especially at higher doses)
- Nausea
- Stomach cramps
These side effects are usually mild and dose-dependent. Taking the tablet with food can help reduce them. If they continue, inform your doctor.
Serious Side Effects (Sanjeedah Nuksanat)
- Hypermagnesaemia (magnesium toxicity) in kidney disease: low blood pressure and muscle weakness — see a doctor immediately
- Respiratory depression at very high doses — see a doctor immediately
- Cardiac arrhythmia (rare, at toxic levels) — see a doctor immediately
When to See a Doctor (Kab Doctor Se Milna Zaroori Hai)
- If you develop severe diarrhoea or abdominal pain
- If you feel unusually weak or your blood pressure drops suddenly
- If you have kidney disease and develop any new symptoms while taking magnesium
Warnings and Precautions (Ihtiyat)
- Don't use Magnesium Tablet if you have severe kidney disease without medical supervision
- Inform your doctor of all medicines you take, including antibiotics
