Minocycline Capsule contains Minocycline as the active ingredient and belongs to the Tetracycline Antibiotic group. All approved and common uses of this medicine in Pakistan are listed below.
Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
- Acne vulgaris
- Community-acquired respiratory infections — atypical organisms: Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia pneumoniae
- Skin and soft tissue infections
Secondary Uses
- Rosacea (anti-inflammatory action)
- Sexually transmitted infections — chlamydia, gonorrhoea adjunct
- Rheumatoid arthritis — off-label, mild disease
Who Should Take It (Kin logon ke liye)
- Adults for whom the doctor has prescribed an oral antibiotic for acne vulgaris
- Patients with atypical pneumonia or bronchitis
- Skin infection patients for whom the tetracycline class is suitable
When NOT to Use Minocycline Capsule (Kab nahi leni chahiye)
- Allergy to the tetracycline class
- Pregnancy (Category D — foetal harm)
- Children under 8 years (permanent dental staining)
- With retinoids / high-dose Vitamin A (additive intracranial hypertension risk)
