Seretide Inhaler Uses (Fayde / Kis kaam aati hai)
Seretide Inhaler contains Salmeterol + Fluticasone Propionate and belongs to the ICS/LABA Combination Inhaler group. Below are all the approved and common uses of Seretide in Pakistan.
Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
- Asthma maintenance therapy — for daily maintenance, not for acute attacks
- COPD maintenance — long-term management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction prevention — airway protection before exercise
Who Should Take It (Kin logon ke liye)
- Patients with persistent asthma not controlled on ICS alone
- Adults and children (per paediatrician advice) with moderate-to-severe asthma
- COPD patients with frequent exacerbations
- Patients under respiratory specialist care for airway disease
When NOT to Use Seretide (Kab nahi leni chahiye)
- As a rescue inhaler for acute breathlessness — use Ventolin (Salbutamol) instead
- If allergic to Salmeterol, Fluticasone Propionate, or lactose
- In rapidly deteriorating asthma requiring emergency intervention
- Without a concurrent ICS (already satisfied in Seretide — do not switch to LABA-only product)
Important: Seretide is NOT a Rescue Inhaler
This is very important: Seretide is not for acute asthma attacks. For acute breathlessness, sudden chest tightness, or during an attack, always use Ventolin (Salbutamol) or another short-acting bronchodilator. Seretide's role is daily maintenance — its effect is not immediate.
Summary
