Simvastatin Tablet (Simvastatin) is generally safe at correct prescribed doses under doctor supervision. However, important side effects — especially myopathy and rhabdomyolysis — require vigilance.
Common Side Effects (Aam Nuksanat)
- Myalgia
- Headache
- GI disturbances (nausea, diarrhea, constipation)

Uncommon Side Effects (Kam Aam Nuksanat)
- Elevated liver enzymes
- Insomnia
Serious Side Effects (Sanjeedah Nuksanat)
- Myopathy / Rhabdomyolysis — see a doctor immediately / go to hospital
- Severe muscle pain or weakness
- Dark urine (brown / cola-coloured) = myoglobinuria = kidney failure emergency
- Risk is higher with: high dose, contraindicated drugs, 80mg dose
- Hepatotoxicity (Liver Damage) — see a doctor immediately
- Jaundice
- Severe abdominal pain
- New-onset Diabetes — statin class effect; discuss with your doctor
When to See a Doctor (Kab Doctor Se Milna Zaroori Hai)
- Severe muscle pain / weakness + dark urine — IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY — sign of rhabdomyolysis
- Jaundice — sign of hepatotoxicity
- Unexplained weakness or fatigue
- Tenderness or swelling in muscles

- AVOID Simvastatin 80mg — restricted due to high rhabdomyolysis risk
