Saxagliptin Tablet contains Saxagliptin 5mg and belongs to the DPP-4 Inhibitor (Gliptin) class of antidiabetic medicines. Below are all the approved uses of Saxagliptin in Pakistan.
Primary Uses (Mukhya Istemal)
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults (to improve blood sugar control)
- Combination therapy with metformin, sulphonylurea, thiazolidinedione, or insulin
Who Should Take It (Kin logon ke liye)
- Adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who require additional blood sugar control
- Patients already on metformin or other diabetes medicines where control is inadequate
- Only for patients with functioning pancreatic insulin secretion (type 2 DM)
When NOT to Use Saxagliptin (Kab nahi lena chahiye)
- Type 1 diabetes mellitus
- Diabetic ketoacidosis
- Severe kidney disease (dose adjustment or avoidance required — consult doctor)
- Known hypersensitivity to saxagliptin or any component of the tablet
